About us.
Who we are
Skillshare International Botswana is a Charitable Non-Government Organisation (NGO) registered as a Trust in 2011
What we do
We contribute to the government endeavor to eradicate poverty by engaging communities to participate in Sustainable Development Goals.
Our Mission
To promote social and economic justice by building capacity of the marginalised communities (including refugees and asylum seekers) living in Botswana to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our Vision
To be a leading progressive model of excellence in restoring dignity and hope to the marginalized regardless of colour, creed, ethnic origin, nationality, gender or age.
Our Focus Sectors
Child Protection
It is every child’s right to be protected from violence, abuse and exploitation. However, multitudes of children from disadvantaged groups have been subjected to exploitation, violence and abuse. Due to their vulnerability, such cases are prevalent and the children’s rights are violated. It is therefore that Skillshare will promote, protect and advocate for children’s rights.
Youth Empowerment
Empowering the youth is compared to empowering the whole nation as they constitute most part of the population. It is imperative as they are the key players in tomorrow’s social, economic and national development. Empowering youth will create platforms for them to realize their potential, resulting in the country acquiring economic growth.
Education
Education is a driving force behind knowledge impartation, skills sharing and training, as well as an information transfer mechanism. It fosters independence, encourages personal and national development, promotes social harmony and cultivates entrepreneurship and technological progress. It is therefore crucial to invest in education, which is why it is one of the focus areas.
Livelihoods and Entrepreneurship
Livelihoods are core to our mandate. These are activities that people use to sustain themselves, which we believe cultivate the spirit of self-independence as they are means of sustenance. Ending poverty is one of the SDGs.
