On the 7th of June 2019, Heros for change NGO in the collaboration with Skillshare International Botswana hosted a karaoke night with the aim to support access to tertiary education for refugees. It was decided that the funds raised from the karaoke would go towards supporting a female Somali student at the University of Botswana in order for her to purchase study materials.
The event was filled with laughter and joy and attended by Skillshare staff, their friends and family, Lingalonga customers, urban refugees and refugee students. People were so enthusiastic to take part and sing. Even those who did not sing donated BWP 20 in order to support. As the night progressed the jar gradually filling up
The night was a success. We raised enough money to purchase all the supplies the student required. We would like to give a special thanks to Chawapiwa Masole for organizing this fantastic event. We are excited to continue our work with the Heroes of change.
