This project aims todevelop Information and Communication Technology(ICT) skills for the Dukwi refugee community, in order to enable them to be connected locally, nationally and most importantly with their loved ones in their home countries and those located in countries across the globe.
Refuges in Botswana quite often find themselves in difficult circumstances due to encampment policy, lack of employment and lack of access to tertiary education. For most refugee youth, after completing basic education, they loiter around the camp and in a bid to avert boredom end up engaging in activities that have little to no positive impact on quality of life some of which being harmful. NOW AND BEYOND project, will equip the community with digital literal life skills skills. , will allow them to gain skills and knowledge which will be for life.
The project seeks to:
- Promote the use of ICT skills by 100 Dukwi refugee community members including, keyboard, email and browsing during the 12 months of the project.
- Equip 50 refugee youth who already have basic ICT skills with knowledge of other applications like, PowerPoint, excel, access, and publisher in preparation for a professional world.
- Provide basic ICT skills to 20 adults.
