As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the world, Dukwi Refugee Camp has not been spared. Therefore, when a good Samaritans Afren Dhansay agreed to assist by donating blankets, we were not only overjoyed but also overwhelmed. In July 2020, Skillshare International Botswana was incredibly grateful to receive a donation of 115 blankets. Ms. Dhansay the founder of Care for Humanity, a charity organization
rounded the members of the organization to solicit funding to purchase the blankets for the residents of Dukwi Refugee Camp. This donation was a great blessing as most of the refugees had not received blankets since they had settled in the camp in the early 2000s.

As they were not enough, priority was given to the vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, single mothers, unaccompanied separated children (UASC) and expectant mothers. The gratitude from the Refugee Community was immense, more especially the elderly as it had been quite sometimes since time they had received blankets.
When speaking on behalf of the single mothers, a representative of the Women’s Forum, Ms. Patience Takaona, said, “We really appreciate the donations, even though the blankets were not enough for the whole community but every bit of help is most appreciated. ”It is a great joy to bring smiles to the Refugee Community especially in these dark time of living in a pandemic and Skillshare International Botswana is most thankful to have donors that make the world a better place.

Thanks to Afren.
Thanks Afren and all involved in Care for Humanity for making this happen. This has made a difference on the lives and families of the women headed households.
