Through the lens of the organiser

I am Tshegofatso Phaphe, the community support officer at Skillshare international Botswana.
I was responsible for the child duty bearer’s workshop on 16-17 September 2021 whose aim was to improve the protection of children on the move (com). Below are my highlights of the workshop.

One of the workshop objectives was: Provision of effective and appropriate child protection support and care services to COM through the best child interest approach as stipulated in the Children Act of 2009. “That was my highlight. It came clearly through the role play where participants showed how they would implement the knowledge acquired from the workshop”.

1. The role played showed how the office bearers have been handling COM and their commitment to change. 
2. The commitment of participants in developing the referral system before September 2021 was amazing. 
3. Last but not least, the participants agreed to find a safe place where they would interview COM in a safe and friendly environment.
